Synopsis: The hilarious farce Moon Over Buffalo centers on Charlotte, an elegant, witty, emotional actress and George Hay, her pompous, arrogant husband and leading man, once headlining stars of the 30's and 40's who have now been relegated to a repertory company consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives in a 1950's run down theater in Buffalo, New York.

This backstage farce by the author of Lend Me A Tenor, brought Carol Burnett back to Broadway and co-starred Phillip Bosco. Fate has given these thespians one last unexpected shot at starring roles when they find out that director, Frank Capra is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. Hilarious misunderstandings, madcap adventures and loads of shtick will have you rolling in the aisles.

As chaos unfolds, George and Charlotte's daughter Roz appears unexpectedly. She’s brought her new fiancé/weatherman to meet her family to show them she can have a "normal life" without the theater, but soon realizes she's still in love with Paul, the stage manager, and not her fiancé. In the midst of all of this, George is dealing with Eileen, an actress in George's company who was also his one night stand. Richard, a lovesick lawyer who has been courting Charlotte for years is hoping to take her away from "all this madness."

And last, but certainly not least, Ethel, Charlotte's hard of hearing mother, a cross between Bea Arthur and Betty White, who has an uncanny dry sense of humor and will have you laughing hysterically from the moment she steps on stage.

Script is available from SamuelFrench.com.

Please prepare a 2-3 minute comedic monologue. Actors will also read from the script. Please bring a resume and a headshot, if possible. No appointment required. Rehearsals will begin August 1st. The time off between auditions and start of rehearsals is to ensure actors come in off book; rehearsal time is therefore shorter.
