The Tempest

A Patio Playhouse Youtheatre Production

tempest-color

by William Shakespeare

Directed by Spencer Farmer
Produced by Brenda Townsend

Performance Dates: March 29 – April 7, 2013

One of Shakespeare’s most beloved and hailed comedies, THE TEMPEST packs a mystical island with iconic characters: Prospero, the deposed and marooned Duke of Milan turned magician; Caliban, the man-beast eager to defeat his master Prospero and retake his throne; Miranda, the beautiful and naïve daughter of Prospero; and Ariel, the mischievous sprite who carries out Prospero’s bidding. Propsero summons a storm to wreck a Naples-bound ship carrying enough passengers to provide us with farce, skullduggery and romance. Rational magic battles with magic of the occult in this story that has occupied poets from Shelly to Auden as well as inspiring the SiFi classic movie, “Forbidden Planet.”
