A special message to the cast from the composer of Working:

I've heard good reports about the Patio Playhouse production of Working - I'm happy to learn that the show is in good and capable hands. I hope you all enjoy your role(s) in the show - on stage or off, and that you have a successful run."

Break-a-leg and all the best,

-Stephen Schwartz, composer

I just wanted you to know how much Dave and I enjoyed Patio's production of Working. It was truly an ensemble production with some outstanding and/or poignant moments and all involved should feel proud of their efforts and accomplishments. Kudos to Richard Brousil for his vision and delivery.

Most meaningful and beautifully delivered numbers for me were
Un Mejor Dia Vendra (David Farlow and John Lombere), If I Could Have Been (Adriana Zuniga, Ensemble), Joe (Jim Clevenger), Cleaning Women (Adriana Zuniga), Fathers and Sons (Richard Brousil, John Lombere and Men's Ensemble and Brett Daniels' Fireman Monologue.

Those who work mostly hope that somebody appreciates what they do. So in the musical Working , the parking lot attendant sings of his skills, the steelworker of the thrills, the waitress of her artistry, and the fieldworker of hope for a better day.

Maybe the Patio Playhouse's production of the Studs Terkel musical rings so true because the talented cast is composed of people with day jobs: the parking lot attendant is a physician, the steelworker is a general contractor, the waitress is a voice coach, and the fieldworker is a business owner.

All I know is that this production is sure to stir the hearts of all for its beauty and its truth. Bill Metzler would be proud.

I cannot find words to describe the pride I feel when I watch Working. I have seen it 3 or 4 times so far and each time my heart swells.

I am proud of my contribution to the production (I designed the lighting). I am proud of the cast, each and every one is so talented and can move me to laugh, cry, smile, think.... I am proud of the band that sounds so professional. I am proud of the crew that keeps the 'wheels' turning. Most of all I am so proud of Richard Brousil for putting together such a worthwhile, thought-provoking, entertaining piece of musical theater that I shall never forget.

I can't wait for Sunday to come and I get to see it all over again.
