I've recently been laid off which has its advantages and disadvantages. The hours are great, but I'm not too crazy about the pay. Of all the characters in the show, I identify most with the mason because he does have "something to point to." The song that moves me the most is Joe. It makes me uncomfortable. When I hear it, I think about the quiet desperation of many elderly people, as they wait inevitably and patiently, simultaneously trying to find meaning in their lives, after having relied on work to provide it for them for so long. What's amazing about this show for me is the music and the message. It makes people think about the importance of their work and lives, in the context of the limited time that they have on this earth. And even though Joe moves me the most, virtually every song speaks to me. It's been a lot of fun working in the band with David, Dan and Emily. And I'm really enjoying being part of a great team. I'm very proud that we're able to deliver such a thoughtful message to the world. |
