I'm one of those lucky people who love my job. I'm a vocal instructor and I send characters to birthday parties for little girls. Music is my life.

Like the character I play, Delores, the waitress, I love being able to help someone. For Delores, giving great service is what makes her joyful. For me, I get intoxicated when I watch my students grow and develop vocally. Delores and I are alike in other ways, too. She feels like she's on stage giving a performance when she's waiting on tables. With me, I feel the same way when I'm entertaining little children at birthday parties or teaching someone to sing.

This show has been an exhilirating challenge for me. Actually, two challenges. First of all it was a little difficult to listen to all the parts in the group numbers (which I have to do as the music director) while I was trying to sing my own parts. Sometimes I wanted to sing all the parts at once. Wish I could split my voice like that.

The second biggest challenge was learning the dances. I've never considered myself a dancer and I ended up with one of the biggest dance numbers in the show, except for the supermarket checker song.

This is a great cast! The band is fantastic!! They are all so dedicated and talented. Everyone is doing their part. It's so refreshing to see everyone so willing to pitch in
and be so dedicated to the show in all aspects, included set construction, props, everything.

I'm very proud that with all the harmony parts in the show that I was able to put it all together. When I first listened to the CD, I thought, wow, this is hard because there are so many parts. But thanks to the talented people and a lot of help from a Emily, our fabulous piano player, I was able to teach each part even though I couldn't sing all the parts at once.

One of the sacrifices I made for the show is time with my husband, Richard. He knows that theater is my passion and understands and supports me and he knows that after the show opens things will get back to normal again. This is just something I do.

Even though I'm not in the song Fathers and Sons, it's the one that touches me the most. I raised 3 boys and the song reminds me of their childhood and the relationship with their dad.

I remember when they were little we would put them to bed and make plans for their future. Everything we did was for our kids and that is basically what the song is saying. There is so much love and warmth in that song. The fact that the boys always looked up to their father. He was their hero then and we did make a lot of mistakes. But, everything turned out OK. There's a lot of truth going on in that song.

I've thoroughly enjoyed directing the music in this show. But what's been
the most enjoyable part for me is that I get to be part of the cast instead
of just watching the show.
