Bebe Brodie

I'm currently a resident artist for Lancome at Saks 5th Avenue.

This is a show I wanted to be in because I love ensembles. Why? Because there's more of a team feeling as compared to a production with leads and a supporting cast. In this show, we're all supporting each other to do our best and everyone of us feels that we're a major and important part of the show.

This show is transformative. It literally changed my life. Not a major change, but certainly a meaningful one. Before I auditioned, I read the book the show is based on...Studs Terkel's Working.

After reading how people really feel about their jobs and that we all share the same joys and frustrations in our working lives, I began treating people differently...especially those who served and waited on me. When the phone repairman showed up at my house, I offered him a cup of coffee. Something I have never done in my life.

The change seems to be permanent. I continue to make an effort to know those who were previously anonymous to me

We all strive to earn a living in whatever capacity we are talented in. We all bring to the table our gifts we've been blessed with to survive and take care of ourselves and families. I've been blessed with a job that I'm passionate about and a husband who supports my whimsical desire to pursue the theatrical arts.

Working is a show that celebrates the American Spirit and I get to perform in a show that celebrates that spirit.

It doesn't get any better than this.
