From the Director

The Mousetrap opened in London in The Ambassadors' Theatre on November 25th, 1952. It is the longest running play in the world, and has been playing continuously in London since that date. Originally written as a 20 minute radio play entitled Three Blind Mice, it was performed by request for Queen Mary's 80th birthday in 1947. Later, the piece was released as a short story by the same name. 10 million people have seen the London production, now playing at the St. Martins Theatre. It has been translated into 20 languages and performed in 40 countries. 3,000 actors have appeared in the London productions alone. A world feat, actor David Raven appeared as Major Metcalf in 4,575 performances! As part of her estate and will, Agatha Christie decreed that the play never be made into a film until it had been closed in London for at least 6 months. And, of course, she has requested that audience members and actors never reveal the identity of the murderer to anyone!

It has been a pleasure to meet the many challenges of this script, and to work with such a talented cast and crew.

THE CAST

  Carri-Lyn Cameron - Mollie

Carri-Lyn is very excited to be doing her first show with Patio Playhouse. She originates from Los Angeles and moved to Escondido 2 years ago. Some of her favorite roles were Glenda the Good Witch, Mc Cue in the Front Page, and, of course, herself in a stage version of Who's Line. Carri-Lyn is very grateful for the love and support of her family and her baby, Flower. Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.."Holy Shit! What a Ride!"

George Blum - Giles

George is very pleased to be at Patio Playhouse again. He was first seen here at Patio as Richard Breyer in last years performance of From Bed To Worse. He has performed in a number of venues, including Poor Players, Lyceum Theater, La Jolla Stage Company, 6th@Penn, Coronado Playhouse, OnStage Playhouse, PowPAC, Chatterbox Theater, Vanguard Theater, Crill Performance Center, and the Carlsbad Performing Arts Center. Favorite plays have included Deathtrap (Sidney Bruhl), Moon Over Buffalo, Macbeth, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Hamlet, Taming of the Shrew, Deadwood Desperadoes, Christmas Carol, Verdict, Much Ado About Nothing, Sihanoukville Inquiry, Eternal Reach, Merry Wives of Windsor, Vesta, and Solid Gold Cadillac.

Xander Felton - Christopher

Xander hails from the sunny lands of Tucson, AZ where he had the pleasure of performing with the Live Theatre Workshop for seven years. This is Xander's first performance here at Patio Playhouse and  is happy to have finally found it. His favourite roles include "Andrew" from Terrence McNally's Corpus Christi, "Dorothy One" from Steve Storc's Dueling Dorothies, "Ramsey-Eyes" from Preston Jones' The Last Meeting of the Knights of the White Magnolia, and of course Christopher Wren from Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.

Adrienne René - Mrs. Boyle

Adrienne René, being born at an early age in the Independence Sanatorium , was on stage at age 4 in The Lottery, director by her parents. Having never had the opportunity to perform with them, Rene dedicates this show to her mom and dad. Rene's favorite role to date is Kate in Brighton Beach Memoirs. Performing in High School, University, Summer Stock, Community Theater, and the covenant Players in hundreds of roles, Rene has done film work and worked
in over thirty shows in the San Diego County area. She is honored to be working with Patio Playhouse for the first time in this Agatha Christy thriller and she very much hopes to be booked for a return engagement.

Don Julio Mas - Mr. Paravicini

This is Don Julio's seventh appearance on the stage at Patio Playhouse. His first one was Man of La Mancha in 2003. In The Mousetrap he appears as a man of mystery, a role that he seems to enjoy very much. Beware!

Patrick McKim - Major Metcalf

He has been involved in community theatre for the past 35 years, starting at San Dieguito Little Theatre in Del Mar where he performed in numerous productions as well as stage-managed and co-produced a few others. He trod the boards of Patio Playhouse over 25 years ago, as Prince Dauntless, in Once Upon A Mattress. He has been back for the past two years, performing in some of our productions. Paul ycamore in You Can’t Take It With You, Inspecting Carol, Protean in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Mr. Willard in Chicken Every Sunday, and last seen as Sebastian in The Tempest.

Karen Spafford - Casewell

Karen has been acting in community theater for over 17 years and she can honestly say that her experiences at Patio Playhouse have been the best. Previous Patio credits include Chicken Every Sunday, From Bed to Worse, Run for your Wife, and Light up the Sky. Other credits include The Crucible, Don't Drink the Water, Play On and A Christmas Carol: Scrooge & Marley. As always she would like to thank her Mom for keeping her Jack Russell Sparky busy during rehearsals and to the rest of the cast for making this such a
wonderful experience.

Christopher DeArmond - Trotter

This is Christopher’s fith appearance on stage with Patio Playhouse and he is glad to be back! He was last seen as Jonathan Swill in From Bed To Worse. He would like to thank Connie for this opportunity and especially Michelle for all her patience with his time away from home. He would also like to dedicate his performance to his daughter Xena, who is his inspiration in life.
