Vesta Gleissner

Vesta was last seen at Patio Playhouse in the role of The Grand Duchess in You Can't Take It With You. Vesta also appeared in the Patio production of The Skin of our Teeth as the "Gypsy." She has "trod the boards" in such venues as the Bonfils Theater in Denver, CO. The Old Globe in San Diego, CA. and the Ramona Pageant in Hemet, CA. as the "Senora". Vesta also dabbles in the art of stained glass and many of her pieces may be seen at the Heritage Antique Emporium on Grand Ave.

Alan Lewis

Alan Lewis is a retired obstetrician-gynecologist. In his dreams, he has played every romantic lead in every award winning drama, won several Emmys and Oscars, and played the lead role in each of Shakespeare's tragedies. In reality, of course, the role of Sidney Carlton is Alan's first since his high school drama class, at least fifty years. ago. Alan's creativity also extends to music—an accomplished saxophonist, he participates in a weekly jazz ensemble at Palomar College, and scat sings at every opportunity. His other interests include golf, travel, extensive reading, computers and duplicate bridge. Alan resides in North San Diego County with his wife Rosa. He is especially proud of his two adult daughters, Sara and Tamara, both of whom are educators.

Gretchen Pili

Gretchen has been participating at Patio Playhouse since 1981, onstage and backstage. Favorite roles include Louisa Creed in Ladies in Retirement, Agnes Gooch in Auntie Mame, Penny in You Can’t Take it With You, Mrs. Antrobus in The Skin of Our Teeth, and recently the Innkeeper’s Wife in Man of La Mancha. She keeps busy with church activities, and keeping up with sons Gil and Erik, of whom she is very proud.

Jeff Laurence

This is Jeff’s third performance at Patio and he enjoys the fun and lighthearted atmosphere that is part of the Patio experience. He enjoys a comedy more than any other type of show and has played in Same Time, Another Year, Noises Off, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers and many other shows in the San Diego area. He is grateful to the folks at Patio for giving him a chance to play the “pain in the ass” character of Larry in this show tonight and grateful to his wife, Lee Donnelly for holding down the fort while he indulges in some good clean fun.

Stephen Rich

Steve was honored recently with an Aubrey Award for his portrayal of Dr. Herbert Rosenthal in Nuts. He has also been honored with a Patio Playhouse Award for his role as Uncle Louie in Lost in Yonkers. Steve has also appeared in Man of La Mancha, Light Up the Sky, and as the lovable old coot, Grandpa, in You Can’t Take It With You. He has also appeared in My Three Angels, Breaking Legs and Showdown. Most recently, he appeared as Pastey in Gypsy.

Don Julio Mas

Introduced to the Spanish Classics as a student at the Municipal Academy of Drama in his native Havana, Cuba, Julio performed on the Cuban stage on a professional level 43 years ago. Last year he made his return to the stage at Patio Playhouse in Man of La Mancha for which he received an Aubrey Award nomination, followed then by The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. At the Adams Ave. Gallery of the Arts in San Diego, he was in the Misfit Production of The Bad Date Theater, followed by Our Lady of 121st Street. Back to Patio Playhouse this year, he joined the cast of Gypsy.

Nick Sampson

Making his Patio Playhouse debut, 14-year old Nick Sampson has been acting since he was in 3rd grade when he was cast in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Since then, he has appeared in a number of productions including, most recently, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat as Isaachar at Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista. Nick is a 9th grader at San Pasqual High School where he is a member of the marching band's drumline and is part of the co-ed competition choir Showtime. "I've really enjoyed working with Kat, Jim and all the terrific people at Patio Playhouse. I've had a great time and learned a lot."

Patrick McKim

Patrick has been involved in community theatre for the past 30 years. Starting at San Dieguito Little Theatre in Del Mar where he performed in numerous productions as well as stage-managed and co-produced a few others. He also served as a member on their board of directors. He trod the boards of Patio Playhouse over 25 years ago, as Prince Dauntless in Once Upon A Mattress, and is thrilled to be back in the fold again. He also spent ten years performing almost weekly in sketches at a church in Encinitas where he also was a member of a think tank to write the sketches. He was last seen as Paul Sycamore, in our production of You Can’t Take It With You. He is currently controlling warehouse inventory for a company in Carlsbad that coaches small business owners to conduct their business by referral. In the process their clients are also encouraged to meet their goals in other aspects of their lives.

Peggy Schneider

Peggy has been doing theater work since she was three years old. She says Inspecting Carol has involved some unusual choices and has been a real learning experience. The cast has been a delight to work with. A conservation educator at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park, animals are her greatest passion, but theater has always played a major role in her life. Peggy has been the recipient of a number of acting nominations and awards, most recently an Aubrey nomination for Stella in Light Up the Sky. Peggy just finished a run as "the stripper who lights up" in Gypsy and has been seen locally at Theatrx, PowPAC, Scripps Ranch, in travel commercials, local news spots for the Park and on the motion picture screen as an extra in Titanic. She is currently developing a body of work in voice-over. Peggy serves on the Patio Board in the Treasurer position, as the ACT representative, and as General Manager.

Liz Rich

Most people call me Liz and I enjoy all aspects of theater. By profession, I am a nurse educator and I view teaching as a performance. During my teen years, I was very active in theater and received a Dramatics Medal for outstanding performances and services. I have performed as Peter Quince in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Portia in Merchant of Venice, Prompter in Six Characters In Search of an Author, Selma Kaminsky, a good natured busy body in 1929 New York Holiday, an original play, Mrs. Oscar Gushington, a society matron in an original musical, Society Summer and Renee, the French maid, in Gypsy.

Trevor McCormick

Trevor is an intelligent young man with huge talent in the performance arts. He's an honor student who's been doing plays since he was a little child. Trevor's enjoyed being in this play and he hopes you do, too.
