“A FUNNY THING HAPPENED
ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM”

  Art Smith - Erronius

Art’s first visit to San Diego was in 1942 and the Marine Recruiting Depot. He is a retired purchasing manager from Michigan and performed in Lansing’s local theaters in Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun, You Can’t Take it With You, and many more. He has served on the Patio Playhouse board, as well as being the President of the Nutrition Council at the San Marcos Senior Center. Past Patio shows include It’s a Wonderful Life, Brigadoon. and Charlie’s Aunt.

  Brian Weissman - Hysterium

Brian had so much fun playing Hines in The Pajama Game that he couldn't pass up another opportunity for a Patio musical. He also appreciates the theater overlooking his past as an exotic dancer. For some, this would be a stigma, but Patio took a chance on him and he will always appreciate that. His children don't know about his past, so please don't let them read this.

  Bruce Blackwell - Pseudolus

Bruce is pleased to return to Patio Playhouse. He was previously seen in The Cocktail Party. He counts the role of Pseudolus among his other favorites, the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors and Lovin’ Al in Working. While there have been many more challenging roles such as Ben in Death of a Salesman, none has been more rewarding than working with Jason Waller and David Pinson in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). He would like to thank the cast and crew of Forum for this experience and his wife Jill for the gift of his lovely daughter Emily Rose…and for letting him out of the house.

  Craig Fowler – Marcus Lycus

Craig is thrilled to be back at Patio after last season’s The Pajama Game. He previously appeared in Patio’s Run For Your Wife. He has appeared in La Pastorella De Esperanza at the Lyceum and The Living Last Supper at the Avo Playhouse. He was assistant director for Steel Magnolias at PATH and The Last Night of Ballyhoo at Patio. He would like to thank Richard and Mary as well as the entire cast of Forum, his family, friends, and, most importantly, God.

  George Day – Protean

This is George’s third production for Patio Playhouse. Previously he worked behind the scenes on From Bed To Worse and Proposals. When he is not mountain biking, backpacking , or filmaking, he likes to spend time with his pets, two turtles, one tortoise, two dogs, three cats and a little brother. George is a volunteer at Palomar Hospital and a 19 year old student at Palomar College, studying to become a teacher.

  Janette Gomez - Vibrata

Janette has been performing since the age of five (two and half, if you listen to an audio tape her mom made). She holds an Associate’s Degree in Drama and is currently a Special Education Teacher and pursuing a Master’s Degree in Special Education. Janette is very happy to be back on the boards after a long absence. Janette is the Artistic Director of the Spanish Ballet of San Diego and occasionally teaches Flamenco at Palomar College. Janette would like to thank her husband James Winter, her parents John and Teresa for all their support and encouragement.

  Kristen Bauer - Domina

Kris is very pleased to be a part of this production, Domina is a role she has lusted after for years. Other roles she has lusted after and been cast in include: Sonya in Godspell, Sheila in A Chorus Line, Ethel McCormick in Footloose, Babe in Working, and Francis in Light Up the Sky. "I hope you enjoy the show."

  Lynnea Weissman - Geminae

Lynnea’s grateful to Patio for giving her the opportunity to make her theatrical debut. She also wants to thank her children for indulging her and the rest of the cast for indulging them. She does not thank her husband for tricking her into auditioning by telling her that all the girls were virgins.

  Nick Sampson – Hero

Nick appeared in his first play at the age of 8 and hasn't looked back since. Happy to be appearing in his third production with Patio Playhouse, Nick is pleased to have a chance to work with the great cast and crew assembled for “Forum.” Some are new friends, some are friends from past shows, but they're all terrific. In addition to his theatre activities, Nick is pursuing a film and television career. Feel free to check out his website at www.nowcasting.com/nicksampson

Patrick McKim - Protean

Patrick has been involved in community theatre for the past 30 years. Starting at San Dieguito Little Theatre in Del Mar where he performed in numerous productions as well as stage-managed and co-produced a few others. He also served as a member on their board of directors. He trod the boards of Patio Playhouse over 25 years ago, as Prince Dauntless in Once Upon A Mattress.. He was last seen as Kevin Emery in Patio’s production of Inspecting Carol and prior to that, as Paul Sycamore (Aubrey Award Nominee) in You Can’t Take It With You.

  Sean Walker – Protean

This marks Sean's third production with Patio Playhouse. Sean prefers to think of himself much more as an actor and less as a singer/dancer despite being in Orange Glen High's Opus 1 Show Choir, but despite his lean towards non-musical shows he's been in a number of musicals in and around the Escondido area. Hopefully not his last show with Patio by a long shot, he looks forward to auditioning for The Tempest in the Spring. Thanks for coming, and hope you enjoy the show.

Tom Pierpoint – Miles Gloriosus

This is Tom’s second appearance with Plays In The Park, appearing last year as the Wizard in The Wizard Of Oz. Tom has been active in local community theatre since moving to SoCal from Sweden in 1988. Tom also has a passion for collecting classic Clenet automobiles (www.Clenet.org) His very significant other, Dana, says the role of Miles in not too much of a stretch for Tom.

Madeleine is excited to be making her debut at Patio Playhouse in Forum. She is a dancer and baton twirler for San Pasqual High School. She is also Nick Sampson’s sister.

    Kym Pappas - Gymnasia
