THE SET
The director chose to keep all the actors who were confined in the attic in Amsterdam
onstage during the entire play.
Those in action were lighted and those at rest remained
in the dark recesses of the set.
The tight attic space that Anne Frank and the others
had to live in is depicted. The audience is given the experience
of
the closeness,
restrictions and limitaions of the actual space
the Franks and van Daan's
had to endure.
The cut-away walls give the audience
a view of the entire space throughout the play. Return to Gallery
