M. Tomas (Emcee)
“When you perform . . . you are out of yourself-larger and more potent, more beautiful. You are for minutes heroic. This is power. This is glory on earth. And it is yours nightly.”
-Agnes de Mille

Kelli Harless (Sally Bowles)
I'm excited and honored to have this opportunity. It's always a challenge to portray someone that makes choices very different from you. I hope you enjoy the show.
Recent roles at Patio include: “Much Ado About Nothing” (Ursula); “Guys & Dolls” (General Cartwright); and with Dramama, “Smell of the Kill” (Nicky). Don't let the Nazi's get you down, remember to live, laugh & love -- Life is a Cabaret! Thanks to the family for letting me come play! |

Jonathan Rossall (Clifford Bradshaw)
“...artists use lies to tell the truth, while politicians use them to cover the truth up." -V for Vendetta . To me, Cabaret is more than a sordid story of the decadence of Berlin in the 1930's. The characters, though fictional, portray in a flagrant manner how many of us, in a manner often imperceptible to ourselves, respond to issues outside the narrow confines of our personal lives. My thanks go out to all my fellow cast members who exhibited the good character necessary to see this thing through. |

Nick Bonacker (Ernst Ludwig)
Nick Bonacker grew up in San Diego County on Point Loma. He moved to the East for most of his adult life where he did lots of University, Community, and Children’s theater. He worked for Eli and Edith Landau at The American Film Theater in New York City in the early seventies. Some of Nick’s pals include Katherine Hepburn, Julie Harris, Leon Arthur, Basil Rathbone, Maximillian Shell, and Craig Noel. It’s not name dropping. These folk all stimulated and brought rich experiences to Nick’s life. |

Lee Donnelly (Fraulein Schneider)
Frln. Schneider is a role Lee has waited for for a very long time – since she was just out of college back in upstate New York. Now that she finally has her chance, she’s committed to lowering her singing voice enough to do it well, but not so much that her choir director removes her from the soprano section. This is Lee’s first musical at Patio although she has done many other shows here, from The Children’s Hour in 1981 as Karen to the wonderful multiple roles in The Dining Room in 2003.

JJ Rowley (Rudolf Schultz)
To paraphrase Woody Allen, the only difference between Jews and Catholics is that Jews are born with guilt and Catholics have to learn it. So, JJ is well equipped to don a yarmulka and step into the role of Rudolph Schultz. JJ has most recently appeared in Patio’s productions of “The Tempest” (as Gonzalo) and “The Weir” (as Finbar) under the able direction of Richard Gant. Geniessen Sie die Vorstellung! |

Gretchen Pili (Fraulein Kost)
Active at Patio Playhouse since 1980, Gretchen was the train conductor in the 1991 Patio production of Cabaret, so she has been promoted, sort of. Some other roles, include Louisa in Ladies in Retirement, Agnes Gooch in Auntie Mame, Penny in You Can’t Take It With You, Madame Armfelt in A Little Night Music, and Mrs. Antrobus in The Skin of Our Teeth. She was last seen as Agatha in Guys and Dolls. |

Stephen Rich
Rick Zimmer
Raul Kohl |
Stephen A. Rich (NAZI Thug)
Steve has always loved theater and has been involved with theater wherever he was. He has received Aubrey and Patio Awards for his various roles. His most recent role was in Fruitcakes as “Mack”. He made his directing debut recently with “Smell of the Kill”. Steve, a Nazi Guard, says “You vill put down the knitting, the book, and the broom, and come to the Cabaret and you vill enjoy.”
Rick Zimmer (Max)
Rick is making his Patio debut in “Cabaret”. He insists that he did not get the role by sleeping with the director, regardless of the rumors. In fact, he asserts that she had to sleep with him in order to be allowed to direct. Regardless, he is happy to be here and helping bring the director’s vision to life.
Raul Kohl (Kit Kat Boy/NAZI thug) See above.

Mime & Patrons
Elizabeth Rich
Julio Mas
Joanne Terry
|
Elizabeth Rich (Brunhilde/Mime)
I enjoy all aspects of theater, on stage and behind the scenes. During my teen years I was very active in the theater and won a Dramatics medal for outstanding services and performances. My favorite role is always the current role. Playing a mime is interesting because the most difficult thing for an actor or an actress is knowing he or she must refrain from speaking. Despite the teasing that “a mime is a terrible thing to waste”, I enjoyed the character development.
Don Julio Mas (Kit Kat Patron)
Don Julio made his debut at Patio Playbouse in 2003 in Man Of La Mancha which won for him an Aubrey Award nomination. He followed that up with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Gypsy, Inspecting Carol, as understudy in The Pajama Game and most recently, The Tempest and The Mousetrap. In Adams Avenue Gallery of the Arts he performed in The Bad Date Theater and Our Lady of 121st Street.
Joanne Terry (Kit Kat Patron)
You may remember Joanne as last season's Millie Moon in "Chicken Every Sunday", for which she received an Aubrey Award Nomination. This year she is delighted to play "background" for this talented cast and crew. "Danke Schöen", Fraulein Zimmer!!!
